In this project I propose a new typology to increase the softness of pedestrian paths and circulation. This new typology for the city will be based on two main ideas:
1. Distributed Access: by maximizing access between and through the blocks by dividing surfaces and volumes in different levels. This branching of space will be in an emergent way in order to give a sense of unpredictability. This will lead to merging of interior and exterior circulation and accesses. It does not necessarily lead to a more efficient one. What happens if we apply the idea of distributed networks to urban infrastructures?
2. Smoothing the Edges: by minimizing the friction along the pathways and blurring the edges of buildings. This would give a feel of unity and not-separateness to the city.
These two ideas will result in a nomadic, smooth, porous city in contrast to conventional striated cities.
